LaTonya Taylor, lead makeup artist and owner of Made-up My Grind, is a self-taught freelance makeup artist currently living in Baltimore, Maryland.
LaTonya has over 10 years of experience in makeup artistry and is the #1 assistant to Emmy award-winning makeup artist Reggie Wells! For 14 years she worked as a business analyst in corporate America. 2-3 years into that, she realized she wanted to take her love of makeup to the next level. She took a handful of classes given by experienced makeup professionals to gain some guidance on the business side and put together a makeup “kit” of her own. From there, Made-up My Grind was born!
At first things were slow. Fast forward years of juggling corporate and freelancing and suddenly things took off for her through word of mouth and largely through social media platforms. LaTonya then decided it was time to take “the leap” and freelance exclusively. It was “Bye, Bye” corporate for her!
LaTonya is very passionate about her craft and it shows when interacting with her clients. It’s always a warm and friendly atmosphere when visiting her makeup suite. Everyone leaves happy! She experiences such joy when she hands the mirror to the client for them to see the outcome. Their expressions of gratitude are what drives her!
Her work has been printed in publications such as Munaluchi Bride and Black Bride and featured on Turf Valley's wedding site. LaTonya has held makeup classes throughout the DMV and provides one-on-one makeup lessons. She is currently based in Scruples Golden Touch salon, in Baltimore, where she is available for a wide range of services such as bridal makeup, any occasion makeup, prom, one-to-one lessons, lash extensions, waxing and group classes.
Made-up My Grind Cosmetics has also launched to provide an extension in your beauty needs!
